Drew Hunter kayaking at home in Colorado
Tour de Hunter for Kayak Safety:
Founders: Brendan Cohen and Jenna Seoane
In honor of: Drew Brian Hunter
Mission Statement:
The Tour de Hunter is a bike ride across America honoring the life of Drew Brian Hunter, who passed away in a kayaking accident in June 2009. Its founders, Jenna Seoane, Drew's fiance, and Brendan Cohen, his best friend, aspire to raise money to promote kayak safety and education. They hope to encourage kayakers to practice safety skills with the guidance of educational whitewater and kayak safety cards which will be available, free of charge, at sporting good stores and kayak/whitewater shops throughout the country. They also hope to fund free safety classes and lessons. Jenna and Brendan are road biking 5,000 plus miles from the Pacific Ocean to the hometown of all three, Marshfield, Massachusetts, on the Atlantic Ocean. Along the way they will stop off in Vail, Colorado, where the three of them lived together the past several years. Through kayak safety and education, the Tour de Hunter's wish is to encourage paddlers to stay safe on the river while enjoying this exciting sport.
